Birkenstock - back in style?

 

 

I recently read an article about the famous Birkenstock sandals being in again and being worn by many celebrities right now. I personally never liked these shoes and probably never will (they remind me of my biology teacher, eek) but it seems that more and more people are looking for their Birkenstocks they once wore but then put away far far away in the darkest corner of their wardrobe. I can't help but compare this suddenly appearing trend to the UGG boots hype. Birkenstock sandals are said to be extremely comfortable, and while they might be better for your feet than UGG boots (particularly fake ones) that will not properly hold your foot whatsoever, I just can't see myself wearing them! I even saw that there are new sandals being designed, like ones that look similar to the famous gladiator sandals, so the industry really is counting on selling more shoes again. What do you  think about Birkenstocks? Go-Go or No-Go? Is it just another short-whiled trend or will they actually have success and be worn by everyone - even blogger?

MIDI SKIRTS / DRESSES

Yes, I'm finally jumping on the bandwagon of midi dresses and skirts too. As some of you may have noticed, I recently purchased my first midi dress when I was in Barcelona (go look at my shopping post here) and I just can't stop looking at other dresses and skirts in that style! I was planning to buy tight midi skirts too while I was in Spain, but couldn't find any - luckily, I just found two on Boohoo today and ordered them for only 9€ each! When it comes to dresses, I prefer the tight ones, since I think that it's not very easy to wear a flowy dress that goes until under your knee, since you can easily look like you stole your mum's way too big dress. Tight midi dresses on the other hand are something I absolutely love. They go from chic, elegant and sexy, when worn with heels, to easy and casual when worn with flats. Regarding the skirts, I like both versions and I've been wanting a flowy midi skirt for over a year now but I somehow completly forgot to look over the flowy skirt selection from Boohoo earlier. Maybe that's not too bad though, I should stop spending all my money before going to London!

I'm probably the last person ever to point this out, but I've been observing the sneakers 'trend' for a while now and I've fallen more and more in love with it! I myself am always pretty sceptical when it comes to people wearing actual running shoes, especially when it comes to myself, because I have this weird obsession that I hate it when my feet look too big compared to my legs. (yes, I'm weird)

Additionally, running shoes tend to cost quite a bit and I'm always scared that I don't actually use them enough. (which is the truth concerning my actual running shoes - I blame the place where I live though, it goes uphill everywhere, yuck!) Since I've been working out more, or basically become more active generally, I'm eyeing with some of Nike's beauties and thinking about maybe pulling a big lip and googly eyes near my dad (it works better on him than my mum) in order to maybe own a colourful, beauutiful pair of running shoes one day, ones that I would actually wear during the day and not only when going to for a run.

What do you think about wearing running shoes in daily life? Go-go or no-go?

BLOCKETTES

I recently bought the english Grazia and read an article (or more like a collage with text bobs and bits here and there) about the shoes that are in now. They wrote about stilettos with mini heels, 'slice' wedges, and blockettes. The blockette shoes are the ones that caught my eye as soon as I saw them. The deal about those shoes is that they do have a heel, but a small one, and they're block heels. I'm sure that they'll remind you of the 60's, etc. I immediately had to think of the movie Clueless!
Anyhow, I'm now playing with the idea of getting a pair myself. The small collage you can see above contains shoes from asos, all for less than 50€ if I remeber right. My personal favourite ones are the two nude pairs, since they're cute and different, but not too special or obvious and I don't own a proper pair of nude shoes. What do you think about them? Yes or No?

After getting pretty a lot of positive feedback about my YES/NO post from from a few weeks ago and being bored, I decided to do a similar one again. I clicked through the 'New In' Sections of Topshop, New Look, Asos and H&M and here's what I found:

1 - I already have a denimshirt but I'm falling for them everytime I see them somewhere. I always have to remind myself that I have a pretty one, hanging lonely in my wardrobe and I always decide that I'll wear it more often from that day on. Guess what? I never know what to wear it with. So if you have any ideas/Inspirations (also pictures of others wearing Denim Shirts), show me them, I'd love to wear my beloved shirt in more different ways!
2 - This blazer is just beautiful. It's classic, plain and clean. Exactly what I'd need right now to light up my dark wardrobe a little. I'm wearing way too much black and grey. I need more colours, light ones!
3 - Since when does H&M make beautiful shoes?! I'm a little impressed, I gotta say. These look like eyecandy to me. But I'm staying faithful to my other wedges, heh.
4 - I know - grey, again. But I'm really loving such shirts right now! I feel like wearing comfortable, big and simple shirts all winter long. Combinated with rings and necklaces.. hmm!

5 - Leopard prints - okay, Maxi dresses - absolutely. But Maxi dresses with leopard prints? Ugh, don't think so..
6 - "Cooolio, I'm a beaar, WRAAAH" - nothing more to say
7 - I never saw the point of wearing finger-less gloves. It's like.. senseless?:D Oh and these aren't even pretty.
8 - Ehm, no. No, no, no, no.. NO?!
9 - I seriously don't get why H&M produced them not only in white (!!) a few months ago but also in black, now, for winter?! + They look so.. clumsy!
10 - This looks just wrong, don't you think?

  Conclusion: I really, really like brown, black, beige, salmon-colour (no idea how it's called), high wedges, big cardigans, big knits, smooth dresses and thunder-patterns.

I don't like fishnet-leggings, sequined things, manga-ish accessoires, too high boots, especially when they're Lace-Up+Wedge, clogs with studds, shiny boots and snakeskin patterns.
