Back to basics

On some days, all you want to do is throw on clothes and get out of the house. Or if you're like me, you tend to leave getting dressed to the very last minute, which usually ends in pulling whatever you get your hands on first out of the wardrobe and putting it on. In either situation, a nicely fitting pair of jeans are a must. Combined with a simple top or a leather jacket and trench coat, you've got a simple, but effective, clean look. All you need now is an interesting pair of shoes or an eye catcher bag. Exactly these kinds out outfits were the ones I had in mind when I bought these metallic sandals back in New York two months ago, and clearly - it works. So now you know what I look like when I have no time or simply a lack of inspiration when it comes to getting dressed. What are your go-to outfits when you don't want to/can't spend a lot of time standing in front of your wardrobe?

Quick & Easy: Vegan Burrito Bowl

Monday 27 July 2015

Ever since I had my first burrito a few years ago, it's been one of those foods that I loved but only ever ate when I encountered a restaurant or food chain where I could get them. However, especially since going vegan, my love for beans - black beans in particular - has been growing. While I'm still on the lookout for those perfect, thin tortilla wraps (the ones I find are always too thick to roll a proper burrito with that won't open after 0.3 seconds?!) I've worked on my burrito bowls, which can be just as delicious and even simpler to make. The recipe for this burrito bowl is very basic and can be changed according to your tastebuds, I sometimes add nutritional yeast for a bit of a cheesy flavour or sprinkle fresh coriander over my bowl, but you can even go ahead and add some corn or grilled tofu! But first of all, let's go back to the basics...

Easy to throw on

playsuit: no name shop (NY) shoes: h&m

I personally have a love-hate relationship with summer when it comes to clothes. While I love having bare legs and not having to bring a coat along everywhere I go, I hate getting too warm, so I usually opt for something simple, comfortable and light when the temperatures go up. To me, even accessorising feels exhausting when all I want to do is sit in a pool. That's why I'm particularly happy when I find a special looking, yet comfortable piece of clothing that I can just throw on without worrying about accessories. As I've already told you in a recent post, I'm all for playsuits this summer, as those tend to be exactly the kind of piece of clothing that's so easy to wear without looking too boring. That being said, it's probably no surprise that once again, I bought a playsuit back when I was in New York. I particularly love this one because it has a bit of a boho, hippie vibe (did anyone say Coachella?) but is still quite simple as the colours of it are only navy and white. It's safe to say that this will be my go-to piece when I want to wear something else than a skirt and a light top, especially when I'm going out for a night in town where all I want to do is dance through the night without having to worry whether my outfit is outgoing enough when I'm not wearing some tightly fitting dress or skirt (it can get ridiculously hot in some clubs, loose clothing is always a plus). Admittedly, the fact that the playsuit has a closed back doesn't always helps when it's boiling hot, but the overall looseness of the sleeves and shorts make up for it. What about you, do you have a certain piece of clothing that's just perfect for those long, warm summer nights?

The benefits of a plantbased diet

Saturday 18 July 2015

A while ago, someone left me a comment with the idea/suggestion to tell you guys a bit about the benefits I've been experiencing since I started eating a plantbased/vegan diet. I first and foremost thought about how the change of diet affected my health and overall feeling of health, but I never really got around writing this post because I always felt like there was more to the benefits of eating a vegan diet than just a few (positive) changes in health I've observed. However, let me start with what I've noticed has changed body or health wise since I've decided to drop meat, fish, dairy and eggs...

Inspiration, where are you?

Wednesday 15 July 2015

shirt: h&m jeans: topshop shoes: zara

I feel like I'm sitting in an hole, lacking inspiration blogging wise. I have ideas for posts but can't get myself to actually sit down and work on new content. Any tips on how to get my blogging mojo back? Or do you have any specific requests regarding things you'd like to see on here?

Vegan Eats | Trier: Yomaro Frozen Yoghurt

Friday 10 July 2015

As a lot of people, I very quickly became a huge fan of frozen yoghurt when it became more known and popular here in Luxembourg a couple of years ago. After all, who doesn't love the concept of covering their "ice cream" in toppings ranging from fruit to sprinkles or even oreos? Logically, I had to drop frozen yoghurt once I decided to adopt a vegan diet...

Familiar colour combination

Tuesday 7 July 2015

t-shirt, skort, hat: h&m shoes: asos bag: /

In my last outfit post, I mentioned that I'm loving all things khaki, tan etc., so it is probably no surprise that today's outfit contained these colours again. However, I did not realise that I wore my snake skin shoes with pretty much the exact same colours as I did in this post until I was fully dressed and standing in front of the mirror. I guess you could say that some combinations just work and that my own subconscious tricked me into putting together this outfit?
Even though the weather's been cooling down (meaning below 30 degrees rather than close to 40 degrees, ha..ha.. did someone say heatwave?), the thermometer showed around 30 degrees again today, which called for something light to wear. While I enjoy summer with all its perks of good weather and free time, I find it the most challenging outfit-wise, especially when the temperatures are going crazy. Luckily, I managed to switch up the typical shorts/skirt-and-tshirt combination, which is quite simply the most comfortable outfit when all you want to do is sit in a pool, by adding my awesome snake skin shoes and tan accessories. Admittedly, I didn't actually wear the hat the entire day (too.damn.hot) but every fashion blogger cheats a little bit with their outfit pictures from time to time, right? The only thing that bugged me about this outfit is the fact that the colour of the hat and bag is not the same... #perfectionist

Safari vibes

Friday 3 July 2015

playsuit, bag: h&m divided shoes: pronti

I'm surely not the first one to be saying this, especially in the middle of summer, but I developed a thing for playsuits. Within the last three weeks, I bought three completely different playsuits but they all have the common point that they're comfortable, easy to wear and great eye catchers. The one I'm wearing in these pictures is one I actually picked up from H&M without even trying it on, simply because I liked the cut and colour of it. "Safari" inspired pieces, be it the colour of clothing or their draping/cut, have been popping up everywhere recently and I couldn't be happier about it. I'm a big sucker for slouchy but somehow still tailored clothing in colours like beige, brown or even khaki. Naturally, this playsuit hits the spot and I can't wait to wear it out lots and lots in summer (and autumn!) and see what more exciting ideas I can come up with when it comes to choosing shoes or accessories to wear with it. The day I took these pictures, it was over 30 degrees so I was happy with simple espadrilles that don't completely keep your feet from breathing in such a heat.

PS: These pictures were taken with my new, smaller camera - how amazing are the results?!
