Veganism

Wednesday 30 April 2014

A couple of months ago, I started looking into veganism and slowly transitioned to a plant based diet. Even though I unfortunately couldn't not eat something that wasn't vegan recently, (I had to eat the food we were served on the plane because I was starving, haha) I am more than convinced that this is the way that I want to eat in the future. When I first mentioned veganism on the blog, I got a few comments about why I'm eating this way, how I do it/what I eat or similar questions. Since I don't feel like I would be able to make a good, complete post about this subject, I decided to share a video about veganism from a fellow blogger/youtuber. In my opinion, she pretty much summed up the main points about veganism and she shares the same/a similar perspective as me on the subject. I also wanted to add a few links to documentations you are free to watch if you're interested in the matter! If there happen to be any more questions that you'd like me to answer about veganism and my opinion about it, I might be able to make a little Q&A if I get enough questions? Let me know!

Forks over Knives - Mainly based on the China Study and health aspects of this diet and if any of you have Netflix (at least the UK version of it), you'll find the clip on there too!
Earthlings - You probably heard about this one already, it particularly talks about mass animal farming.
101 Reasons to go Vegan - This is the most recent documentary I watched, which is basically a presentation about Veganism that got filmed. The guy doing the presentation does it in a very interesting and funny way!
Best speech you will ever hear - The first clip I watched from beginning to end and which made me really think about eating habits and health.

Jenny herself also added a few links to documentations in the description box under her video, but I yet have to watch some of them, so I thought I'd only share the ones on my blog that I've already seen myself! If you like this kind of post, then do let me know in a comment :)

Sunday

Monday 28 April 2014

pants: h&m top: everything5pounds kimono: primark rings: h&m divided shoes: pull and bear sunglasses: camden lock

Even though I spent my entire Sunday eating, watching (and finishing, owww) 90210 and painting my nails, I got myself to leave my room to take these pictures for the blog. I think it's safe to say that I wore this kimono to death over the last two weeks, as I literally lived in it in Turkey and being back in Luxembourg, it's still one of the first things I grabbed when I got dressed yesterday. I haven't made any plans for my time at home yet, but I definitely have to arrange some coffee dates and I really feel like going to the cinema too. I want to blog more actively during my time home, as I'll be busy with Uni work once I'm back in the UK, but I feel a tad uninspired and bored by mainly posting outfit posts... Do you have any ideas/suggestions on what I should post next? Another Random Facts about Me? Or even a Q&A? Let me know! x

Instagram Diary

Sunday 27 April 2014

left: random selfie from a couple of weeks ago right: the last couple of days I spent in Brighton before coming home for spring break, my friends and I went to eat at Food for Friends and even though the food was really nice, I was disappointed by the portion size - price ratio...
left: I started being a bit more creative with food, especially since I've mainly been living off pasta and sushi since starting to eat 801010. In this picture, you can see chickpea patties with homemade oilfree potato fries and a sweet chili sauce I basically made out of sriracha, agave nectar and lemon juice and on the right you can see... right: mushroom risotto! I've been telling my dad over and over again to make risotto more often as it's one of my favourite dishes ever, so I gave it a try and made my own mushroom risotto and it turned out wonderfully!
left: I simply had to wear my both my shoes and jumpers with snakeskin pattern on at the same time, hehe right: view from our balcony in Turkey, now I miss it! *sigh*
left: in Turkey, I finally got to try something I've been wanting to try for a while now: mulberries! So so yummy right: before going on holiday, I finally cropped the 'indian' pattern top that I bought a while ago and this is how I wore it
left: even though my brother is turning 16 in about a month, I still feel like he's my little baby brother, but I have to face it; he's even already almost caught up on my height! right: detail shot from an outfit I wore in Turkey, showing my new two bracelets I bought for really cheap
left: just the beautiful sea! right: I finally got lots of freckles again (more than the picture actually shows) and I really hope that they won't disappear too soon, as it's supposed to be raining a lot over the next days over here in Luxembourg...
left: random outfit - I must have been inspired by all the Coachella fashion because I felt very boho wearing this, haha! right: our garden is absolutely gorgeous right now, there's flowers everywhere and these purple ones all around the outside of the back of our house are particularly stunning
left: I didn't get to eat close as much fruit as I would've wanted to in Turkey, so I was more than happy to do major fruit shopping with my dad yesterday and I enjoyed a bit of the deliciousness yesterday as late breakfast after a night out right: I found this little corner in our living room to be looking very 'Instagram', so naturally I had to take a picture of it, haha!

TURKEY PHOTOBOMB

Tuesday 22 April 2014

I took a bunch of pictures during our stay here in Turkey, particularly on our day trips the last couple of days and decided to make a photobomb post out of them. I was really selective when picking the pictures for this post as I've got plenty more but didn't want to make it too heavy. Let me know if you like these kinds of posts and I might be able to put another one together with pictures from our holiday!

By the seaside

Monday 21 April 2014

shorts: topshop top: zara sandals: pull and bear bag: h&m sunglasses: camden lock

I didn't wear a particularly special outfit yesterday, but I finally got to wear my new sandals out and who am I to not take advantage of this beautiful backdrop to take outfit pictures in front of?! Our holiday here in Turkey is slowly getting to an end, as we're leaving on Thursday morning, but even if I will miss the sun and relaxed atmosphere, I'm also really looking forward to seeing all my friends back in Luxembourg! I'll stop writing now, as I want to go enjoy the great weather for the time I've got left here, so I'll talk to you later! x

Up high

Saturday 19 April 2014

top, bag: h&m jeans: gina tricot kimono: primark jacket: mango shoes: topshop necklaces: urban outfitters

Yesterday, my family and I went on a trip about an hour away from our hotel and my favourite part was when we were at a pretty high spot and got to see the most beautiful views! I've only been to Turkey once before this time, 3 years ago, but I still remember how much of a beautiful country Turkey is, especially its landscapes are stunning. I really like taking outfit pictures in different places if the chance strikes, so this was definitely a cool place to take pictures in!

Braided

Friday 18 April 2014

I've recently been trying out new hairstyles and I'm especially loving anything that involves braids. The hairstyle I'm wearing in these pictures is one I particularly like, as it gives even a simple outfit a little extra touch! Obviously, I need to practice and improve it by using different hairpins, as these are a bit too obvious. Another bonus is that this hairstyle is the perfect solution for a bad hair day or when you simply don't have enough time to wash it! Do you have any favourite ways to wear your hair? And do you know a specific kind of hairpins that work well for these kinds of hairstyles?

Pale

Wednesday 16 April 2014

skort, top: h&m divided shoes: h&m bag: zara jacket: mango sunglasses: camden lock

I don't know if it's just me, but whenever I have literally no time to think about what to combine in my closet, I come up with the nicest outfits. I overslept a little bit this morning and the fear of not being able to eat breakfast (can you imagine the disaster!) got me and I just pulled out whatever I found in my closet and came up with this skort-top-jacket combination in light colours and I love it! I just added the bag for the pictures and I'm sure that I have more exciting shoes to wear this outfit with, as well as accessories, but I like this look as a neutral base to work with. I officially got my first sunburn yesterday (well at least I don't need to wear any blush now, right?) but I am enjoying the hot weather and bright sunshine to the max. I also think that I'll try to find a way to take off the hotel bracelet for outfit pictures because it always reminds me of prison... if that makes sense, haha?

Style Inspo: Kylie Jenner

Tuesday 15 April 2014

Since I moved to the UK in September, I have started watching Keeping up with the Kardashians more or less regularly and - surprisingly - actually enjoyed it! The show is much more genuine and fun than I expected and I definitely have my moments where I wish I was a part of their family, haha! However, this post will not be about KUWTK, but about the youngest Kardashian, or rather Jenner in the family; Kylie. I recently started following some of the girls from the family on Twitter and Instagram and slowly but surely fell in love with Kylie's style. I love how she goes from classy to boho or comfy combinations and looks good every single time. The main inspiration I get from her style is to wear more accessories and to mix and match styles and patterns! And let's not forget - she's only 16! Say whaat? Here are some of my favourite looks that I found on several tumblrs.
