Ever since I bought this knitted turtleneck dress from ZARA recently, I had this one specific combination in mind: pairing it with my over knee boots. Today, my friend and I finally got around taking pictures outfit pictures of each other , so I used that opportunity to get some pictures taken of this look. It's very basic and can probably be spiced up with a colourful lipstick, coat or some accessories but I kept it rather simple today. I feel like this is the perfect outfit to throw on on a colder day when you want to feel comfortable but want to switch it up from the usual jeans-sweater-boots combination.
Before I end this post: have I mentioned how awesome it is to have a fellow blogger living in the same house as you? It's so awesome. I love taking pictures with people who know just how many giggles and weird poses are involved in the making of good outfit pictures.  I had the most gorgeous flight of my life when flying back to the UK, we flew towards the sunset, I've never seen the sky looking this orange and amazing! | typical lunching back in Brighton | saw snow for the first time in Brighton
having coffee with my new house-mate/blogger friend/foodie/Instagram addict | decided to walk to the market last Saturday when the sun was out | Sunday pancakes

I accidentally let it become a tad too quiet on here, but I'm planning to take outfit pictures very soon (tomorrow hopefully) and I've got another two or three post ideas, so I'll be back with more regular updates. I made the (awful, awful) mistake of going into Primark and some other shops the past few days, so I'm very excited to show you the latest addition to my wardrobe. I'll keep it short for today and wish you all a good week and talk to you soon!

Amsterdam | B&B Waterfront

Friday 23 January 2015

During my stay in Amsterdam last November, my friend and I lived in a beautiful Bed & Breakfast right by the canals. Because I liked staying there so much, I decided to write a short blog post about it, hopefully giving someone inspiration on where to stay when visiting this great city!

Blog Post Roundup #3

Tuesday 20 January 2015

juices I had with friends back in Amsterdam - really need to try and make my own juice incorporating beetrot!

Hey everyone! It feels like forever that I started a post this way... Anyway! My blogging mojo has been fluctuating a little bit over the last day or two since I got back to the UK, as I'm still easing into second term filled with new modules, tutors and (so much) reading. On top of that, the weather has been awfully wintery again, (remember the times that I was excited about cold temperatures and snow? yeah, me neither) making just about everything seem more appealing than standing outside in half my outfit (aka without a coat, scarf, hat, gloves...) to take pictures of what I wear on days where all I want to do is lock myself in in our house and sit on top of the heater all day. That being said, the blog will probably be a bit outfit-less for a couple of days - or however long it will take the British weather to realise that we are in fact in Britain and not at the North Pole - but I've got some post ideas here and there, so bear with me on those popping up on your dashboards until I dare to leave the house without a coat again (to take pictures that is). Enough rambling for now, here is number #3 of my Blog Post Roundups, I hope you enjoy it and don't forget to leave some links in the comments yourself!

CHANGES

Sunday 18 January 2015

dress: zara

As you've probably noticed over the last few days, I recently decided to invest in a good blog theme and purchased one on Etsy. I'm still not a hundred percent done/happy with the theme and changing small bits and bobs here and there but it feels good to have changed my blog's theme to something else after having a very similar theme for years now. We're already halfway through January, which means that it might be just a tad late for New Year's Resolutions, but since I'm not necessarily a big fan of those anyway, I thought I'd share some things that I want to change/start doing in 2015 that have been crossing my mind lately. Towards the end of 2014, I started organising myself better in order to create better blog content and I definitely want to keep this up - making a Facebook page (which hit 100 likes yesterday, woo!) and changing my blog theme is part of my motivation to keep regular, better quality posting up. However, I've also got some more personal changes I want to make this year (or generally in the future, actually)

New in

Friday 16 January 2015

One of the best thing about living in Luxembourg, is being able to go to France, Belgium or Germany without having to drive for hours. Within just an hour from my place, I can be in a German city called Trier. Yesterday, when I went to Trier, I did some sales shopping but also bought some bits and bobs from a shop called DM, which is basically the German version of Boots or Superdrug.
The first picture shows (quite badly, unfortunately) two knitted turtleneck dresses I found in the ZARA sales. It's hard to show them well in a picture when they're not worn, but I'm sure that outfit pictures will follow soon, as I'm already wearing one of the two dresses right now. I had been looking for these kind of knits since November but never found ones I liked or I found them to be too expensive. When I had a look around the ZARA yesterday, I finally found some of these dresses and immediately bought two of them. The navy one was reduced to 17€ (original price was 26€) and the grey one was less than half of the original price (50€) - I got it for 20€ only, hellooo bargain! They're easily one of the cosiest items I own and I can already see myself living in these over the next few weeks, before the weather decides to get nicer again.
In DM, I finally bought some lip pencils, which I something I had been meaning to do for months now, wanting to put more effort into putting on lisptick. The red and dark pink lipliners I bought matching with two lipsticks I already own in these colours and the darker beige/nude-ish lipliner I bought together with a matching lipsticks. All lip products are from the brand P2 and only cost me about 2€ each, plus they're cruelty free, which is always a nice added bonus! Lastly, I also picked up some face masks, which is something I haven't used in years, so I was curious to try some out again. I really enjoy buying beauty products in DM every now and then, a I dislike spending a lot of money on make-up and the like, so shops like these are always fantastic to find cheap but good quality products.

Travelling Wishlist 2015

Monday 12 January 2015

After having read Laura's post on the different places she would like to travel this year or further in the future, I realised that this is the perfect kind of post for me to write too, as I'm a huge travelling enthusiast and I love how many places I was able to visit in 2014. Given that the weather is a bit grey and dull outside at the moment, I decided to have a scroll through my Pinterest Travel board and pick a few destinations I would love to visit. Obviously, I'm still very much of a (mainly broke) student, so I certainly won't be able to visit all of these places this year or even in 2016 but one can dream, right?

All Zara errrything (or almost)

Saturday 10 January 2015

sweater, coat, shoes, scarf: zara pants: h&m bag: asos

Even though I wore this outfit travelling home yesterday, I liked it too much not to re-wear it and take some pictures. I just have this thing with combining all things striped with bold colours. I swear I didn't realise that almost the entire outfit is made up of ZARA items apart from the bag, pants and underwear (TMI? my bad), hence the title of this post. This outfit may be one of my favourites lately and it's more than perfect to travel in; it's comfy, simple and practical. Before I finish this post - can we please talk about the colour of this coat? It's yellow, isn't it?! Both my dad and brother have been commenting on my "orange coat" and they won't let me convince them that it's yellow..?

FANATICS - My take at combining MLB Hats with classic everyday wear

Wednesday 7 January 2015

Whilst I personally enjoy different types of exercise and sports, I have admittedly absolutely no clue when it comes to different sports teams, be it in basketball, football or even baseball. A couple of days ago, I found out about a challenge by an online shop called Fanatics, asking you to choose a hat from the MLB baseball hats section and styling it up to an outfit I would wear myself. My initial thoughts went something like "Oh, that sounds like a fun idea! But wait, what do I  know about baseball and the different teams?" Luckily, I found out that the challenge would still very much be based on my personal style and how I would combine the hat of my choice.

After I finding this out, I decided to take the plunge and just give it a try! Since I obviously couldn't get much out of the different teams' names, I decided to simply choose a design and colour(s) that caught my eye and style my way around the hat using items from different shops I would usually shop at as well. When it came to choosing the type of hat I would use, I very quickly decided on a cosy winter hat with a cute pompon, as it is not only the perfect hat to wear with the current cold winter temperatures but it would also give a twist to how I would style the rest of the outfit. Even though I at first wanted to go with a grey/black coloured hat, I stumbled upon this cute yellow coloured hat representing the Pittsburgh Pirates and came to the conclusion that I should use a more exciting colour than the typical wintery grey and black. We've already got enough dark colours in our winter wardrobes, so let's spice it up a bit!

When it comes to sports wear in fashion, I especially love a combination of sporty and elegant items to make the whole outfit look more original and interesting. Keeping this in mind, most of the items I picked are rather elegant basics, like a pair of black skinny jeans, a cosy grey knitted turtle neck sweater to keep you warm and a classic camel coat. To add a bit more to the sporty and casual vibe of the hat, I picked a pair of white sneakers and a practical black backpack. As you can see, the colour scheme of the whole outfit is quite simple, making the hat stand out more but also making it easy to pair with a lot of other hats I found in the online shop, like this or this one. I find myself to like this outfit so much that I could easily imagine myself wearing this on a daily basis or even to a game of my favourite baseball team (if I had one that is, haha)

Style Inspiration: Chiara Ferragni

Monday 5 January 2015

It's no secret that blogger Chiara Ferragni has been receiving more and more attention in 2014. Even though I used to not be her biggest fan, checking her blog every now and then but that was it, I've been more and more inspired by her fashion sense since I started following her on Instagram. I love how she plays with fashion, wearing wild combinations of cuts, colours and shapes and always looking cool and chic at the same time. I'm not one to make a lot of New Year's resolutions, but maybe you could count this one as one: I want to become more free when experimenting with fashion, buy more statement pieces and get out of my comfort zone every now and then. Enough blabbering about my goal now, here are some of my favourite looks of her - all pictures were taken from her blog The Blonde Salad.

I started 2015 with food, a headache and binge watching Suits. Yesterday, I finally got out of the house again, met up with a friend and had a short stroll through the ZARA sales and naturally didn't leave empty handed. I'm heading back to the UK tonight to study and write my exam on Thursday but then I'll be back home for another 9 days. As usual, the past 3 weeks have flown by and I am once again wondering how I didn't get to study more during those 3 whole weeks, ha! Anyways, I'll try to update once or twice over the next couple of days but I have to focus on my studying first, so we'll see how it goes. Talk to you soon x
