Recipe: Homemade Apple Sauce

Wednesday 29 April 2015

Everyone has a friend who doesn't like a certain fruit - for some it's bananas, for others mangoes or even strawberries and for me it's apples. Since I was little, I never enjoyed eating raw apples and if I ate any apples at all, it always came down to a few slices and then I was fed up. My dad always shakes his head at me, saying that I have to like apples because I'm such a fruits and vegetables junkie in general but I just... don't?
However, I do like apples when they're "processed" (by which I don't mean that they need to be loaded with unnecessary sugars and oils by the way) and especially when they're warm! I find it very funny that I really don't enjoy eating apples raw, but you know what I looove? Apple sauce! My dad makes the best apple sauce ever and I always end up scraping the rest of it out of the pot, so I decided to make some myself today and share the recipe with you! It can obviously be eaten when hot or cold (hint: it's so much better when hot though) and if you're a cinnamon lover like me, don't be shy with adding it into the sauce!

Navy, black and white

Sunday 26 April 2015

sweater: primark jeans: h&m leather jacket: topshop bag: zara shoes: pronti

As always when I go to Trier (Germany) for a day trip, I came home with an awesome sale find from ZARA. I did also buy something in other shops, but this navy bag from ZARA is definitely my favourite purchase. I originally saw it in mustard yellow but then went for the navy blue version as I don't really own any navy coloured bags (or accessories in general). The price of it was reduced to 20€ (the original price was 30€) so I couldn't leave without it! I love everything about it; the colour, size, shape and cute tassel! Funnily enough, a few days later, I went to get some new espadrilles (I already had some last summer and wore them to death, outfits here, here and here) and ended up buying a black and a navy pair! I always seem to run out of ideas on how to wear my white jeans, so when I suddenly had navy coloured shoes and a bag on hand, I knew exactly what to wear for my next outfit post! Navy and white are definitely one of my favourite colour combinations, what do you think?

This is not a Michael Kors bag

I've never been the kind of person to buy clothes, shoes, bags, etc. from specific brands. Even today, I will still happily spend less money on single items from ZARA or H&M than save up for a more expensive piece from a known designer label.

Instagram Diary

Sunday 19 April 2015

1: I've been using snapchat a lot more lately, so do add me if you'd like to see more snippets of my days! Find me under noraameliie 2: Instead of dragging myself to the gym, I've spent quite a bit of time going for walks around the neighbourhood in Brighton and I've discovered some cute spots here and there 3: £2 roses from Aldi - definitely need to buy flowers more often
1: Is there anything better than half a liter of freshly pressed orange juice on a sunny terrace? 2: Gorgeous sunset 2: Last weekend, my best friend from home stopped by Brighton for a day and we had a day filled with coffee, sunshine and... getting matching tattoos
1: I finally found papayas that don't cost me a fortune in Brighton, so I love having them for breakfast or a snack (I'm talking about papayas that are over a kilo in weight, by the way) 2: On Thursday, I finally made my way back to Luxembourg after almost three months. These pants were part of the most comfortable outfit ever to travel, plus I felt so chic - win win! 3: I want to keep on going for walks back home, so I had a nice one hour stroll with my friend yesterday

I've been so busy with all sorts of things, especially Uni work, that I completely neglected the blog over the past few days... On Thursday afternoon, I arrived back in Luxembourg and so far I've spent my time here relaxing and going to my first small Blogger_LU meeting yesterday. Unfortunately, I won't be able to just relax over the next 3 weeks, as I still have a lot of work to do, but it just feels so great to be home again after such a long time!

After having sold my very first trench coat a few years ago (why 16 year old me, why??), I have finally found a new one and this one I will keep! As usual, Unidays lured me onto Asos, as they were having a 48h time span where you got 20% off everything - who am I not to take advantage of that?! I obviously bought more than just this trench coat (for an incredible £30 I may add) but I thought that it deserved to be taken out to play first! I kept the rest of the outfit very simple and, well stereotypical?, combining it with a cute striped dress and my black loafers. I did indeed feel like I was attending at Oxford. Unfortunately, the (pale) bare legs were only out to take pictures, as the temperatures are still quite low over here, even if we've been getting lots and lots of sunshine lately! It's supposed to be warmer back in Luxembourg, which makes me even more excited to go home and that also means that I'll be able to show you my other Asos purchases! Until then (Thursday!) I'll keep my legs in jeans and tights and wish you all a good start of the week!

Blog Post Roundup #4

Wednesday 8 April 2015

I'm the master of photobombing other people's pictures but for once I don't look like a complete idiot!

After my short absence on the blog, I'm back with a blog post roundup. Unfortunately, I had to keep it a mini post, as I haven't been able to read other blogs as regularly as I'd like to. I'm currently drowning in Uni work, trying to get as much done as possible before I fly home for three weeks next week, trying to avoid having to lock myself into my room back home. Thankfully, the huge work load has been balanced out my lovely restaurant, as well as home made dinners with a friend and some tv shows, so I haven't gone completely bonkers yet. I hope you enjoy the three posts I did choose and that you either have a less stressful end of the week or that you at least get the stuff on your to-do list done! Talk to you soon!

Love your body better - A very personal but incredibly important post about self love and acceptance, written by my dear housemate CĂ©line. An amazing read that definitely leaves you thinking afterwards...

Should we get rid of our comments section? - Carmen discussed the importance of the comment sections on blogs, something I have also found myself questioning sometimes!

Blogger Resources - Looking for blog post or even weekly planners but don't want to spend a lot of money on them? Chelsea came up with the best solution to that problem: she simply designed her own and they look fantastic! I've already downloaded some of them myself.

Vegan Lentil and Strawberry Salad with Roasted Sweet Potatoes

Saturday 4 April 2015

Since I got quite a bit of good feedback on the recipe I recently posted, I thought that I might try to share recipes with you more often! Especially as I'm mainly at home, doing Uni work at the moment, I don't have a big amount of inspiration when it comes to blogging, so recipes are always a good alternative for me to write about, as I do cook at least once a day! When I bought brown lentils a little while ago, I wasn't too sure what to do with them (mainly because I wanted to try something new), but when (as you might've seen on my Instagram) the market at my Uni had strawberries on offer, I went a liiiittle bit crazy and bought five punnets of strawberries, haha! I remembered seeing lentil-strawberry-salads before, so I decided to try it for myself and I love it so much! To me, it tastes very summery whilst still being satisfying and filling. The first time I made it, I actually even added two blood oranges, so you really can play around with different variations of this salad. Enough rambling around for now - let's get to the recipe!

Disclaimer: I like my portions big, which is why I ate the entire serving I made, so if you're not as big of an eater, then you might have some leftovers - but that's never a bad thing, is it?

A few weeks ago, a friend and I met up in Brighton to do a little, well needed retail therapy. While most of my buys were rather unplanned and spontaneous, I did look out for a specific piece of clothing: flared pants! A little earlier on, when my mum was visiting me, I tried on a pair of blue flared jeans in Topshop but the fit wasn't perfect and I wasn't bothered to spend more time trying them on in different sizes, so I decided to postpone my search for some flared jeans to another day. When I then went back to the store with my friend, I still didn't like the fit of the jeans on me, no matter which sizes I tried on. I felt that they made me look shorter than I was, which is the opposite of what the flared cut is supposed to be doing, right?! I was kind of disappointed but decided that maybe flared jeans/pants were just one of those things that simply didn't suit me. But then I saw these striped beauties on a mannequin at Miss Selfrigde's and I had to have them! I love love their fit, as they accentuate my waist and bum and the cut doesn't make me look shorter! The fact that they're striped was an added bonus, as (as some of you might already know) I'm a huge sucker for all things striped. They're definitely the most comfortable pair of pants I own - I always feel like I'm wearing luxurious, silken pyjamas - which I can actually wear in public! And of course I couldn't pass up the opportunity to take some jump-y pictures with them, I just love their movement!
