My perfect 4 day Barcelona getaway

Thursday 31 October 2013

A little while ago, I got an email from Holiday Gems asking me if I'd like to participate in a Blogger challenge, the price being a trip to Barcelona for 2, for 3 nights. The challenge is to create the perfect getaway, visiting small hidden places, discovering Barcelona in its less touristy way and so on! Since I have been to Barcelona only a couple of months ago and I loved it, I couldn't say no, so here's my entry!

As there are so many things to do, I decided to just write down anything that came to my mind that I would like to do while in the city. And by the way - this holiday is around the month of November, so that it's weather appropriate! (And yes, I've done some of those things in July already) When it comes to the person that I'd take with me on the trip, I'd take my friend Sarah with me, my faithful photographer for the blog and long-time friend!
Go to the MACBA museum - when I went there in summer, I really liked it, but unfortunately, half the exhibitions were closed due to renovations. This is quite a touristy thing to do but it's still on my must-do list! Going to the museum is also the perfect thing to do on a rainy day!
Visit a fleamarket - fleamarkets are my weakness, especially since we barely ever have anything similar in Luxembourg, so if there's a fleamarket in a city I'm visiting, I will go there!
Spend an afternoon in the Six Senses Spa on the 42nd floor - again, this is perfect for a rainy day, after you went to the museum or did some shopping! Additionally, you'll get the most breathtaking view of the city!
Cocktail, Nacho & Sandwich Lunch - back in July, my friends and I discovered this overly cute bar where you got fabulous cocktails for 3,50€ and the best snacks, I would definitely go back there, probably even more than once!
Buy fresh fruit, big ice creams or candy on the street and head to the beach to soak up some sun - this is simply a must, no matter if it's 18 or 30 degrees!
Tapas, Tapas, Tapas! - Tapas are fabulous to eat for lunch as you can decide how much exactly you want to eat, adapting to your hunger. (And don't forget that glass of Sangria!)
Watch Flamenco dancing in an untouristy, hidden place - to soak in the traditional Spanish atmosphere and culture without people trying to sell you drinks for 1€ on every corner of the street. PS: Apparently Student IDs get you a cheaper entry - can it get any better?
Visit the Parc de la Ciutadella - to take a break from the busy streets and to admire the beautiful nature and architecture.
Visit the Boqueria food market - to stock up on fresh food, good cheese and the best Spanish ham, yum!
Go to the Chocolate museum - a chocolate museum is something that I've been wanting to visit for years now, so this visit would definitely be on my to-do list!
Drink cocktails in the Juanra Falces Cocktailbar - for those of you who haven't noticed yet: I'm a huge fan of cocktails, so this is a must for a relaxed night!
Last but not least: Eat Paella! - I never was a big fan of the Spanish rice dish, until I tried some real Paella in Barcelona! There's a variation for everyone, be it vegetarian, chicken or seafood Paella.

So these are the things that I would do on a 4 day trip to Barcelona. Of course, there are hundreds of more things that you could do, but I chose the ones that interest me the most! I didn't include any clubs, as the best way to find nice ones is to look for them when you're actually in the city, but I think I'd have enough to do during the day with these ideas!

FAUX FUR

Wednesday 30 October 2013

Hey guys! Since it was pretty much impossible to show you my new faux fur coat without wearing it, I decided to show it to you worn! The idea to pair it with my checkered shift Dress was quite spontaneous, but I really like the result! You also get to have a better look at my new bag that I showed you recently as well - it's huuge and fits aaaall my soo necessary stuff (:D)

PS: Is it just me who feels like the richest Lady on earth when I throw on my fur jacket?

Vintage Halloween Pictures

Where I come from, Halloween is almost inexistent - people might splash some blood on their faces or buy cat ears to go to "Halloween Parties" but that's the furthest it goes. Since I moved to the UK, I've been really excited about Halloween (for the first time!) and even got myself a costume. I'm not sure what tomorrow night will look like, (flatparties vs. night out in the city?) but whatever we'll end up doing, at least I'll get to wear a Halloween costume for the first time! How about you? Do you celebrate Halloween? Are you excited? Do let me know what you're planning and link me to any of your posts that are related to Halloween!

When I had a browse through the IFB website, (check it out if you haven't yet!) I found a couple of sources with vintage Halloween pictures and decided to share my favourites. There's just something about the pictures being old that makes them look so spooky. Enjoy!

NEW IN

 ZARA
Revlon

Since I spent the weekend with my mum who came to visit me, I spent a lot of time eating good food, walking around Brighton and doing some shopping here and there. I didn't take my camera with me, so there won't be any weekend pictures, but I decided to show you what I got/bought last weekend. My mum and I went to a vintage/secondhand store that I've been wanting to go for a while now on Saturday and I found the knitted jumper, (which I bought myself) faux fur jacket and a pretty belt there! My mum paid for the jacket as an early St. Nicholas present (in Luxembourg, you get a part of your Christmas presents on the 6th of December already) and she really wanted me to have the belt as well, so she paid that too. It was pretty much impossible to take a good picture of the faux fur jacket, but I'm sure that I'll have an outfit post with it up on the blog soon! I also finally got a bag that's big enough to fit my folders in when I'm on campus, as it's really annoying to have to carry them in my arms, especially when it's pouring. Finally, as some of you might remember, one of the things on my wishlist (see the post here) was a brown lipstick and I found this one in Boots! It's really dark, so I feel a little bit like one of the Spice Girls when wearing it, but I like how different it is compared to the typical red/pink lipsticks!

Music

Sunday 27 October 2013

Since my mum is currently visiting me here and I don't know if I'll have the time to take pictures and update a lot, I decided to share some songs that I've been listening to a lot lately, enjoy!
400 Lux - Lorde

Tennis Court - Lorde
I'm slowly starting to really love Lorde's music, these two songs are my current favourite ones!
Crave you (Adventure Club Dubstep Remix) - Flight Facilities
I've loved the original song ever since I first discovered it a year or two ago, and when my flatmate played this version, I fell in love all over again.
F.U. - Miley Cyrus ft. French Montana
On my own - Miley Cyrus
#GetItRight - Miley Cyrus
Is it just me who's playing Miley's new album non stop?
I decided to only pick 3 of her songs to share on here, but I really do love every single one! (well, apart from one)

Stay the Night - Zedd ft. Hayley Williams
This is a song I randomly discovered a while ago and Hayley's voice is once again so beautiful, I can't stop listening to it!

Neon + Kimono

Friday 25 October 2013

skirt: h&m divided kimono, shoes: primark

I own two kimonos but whenever I wear them, the outfit usually turns out to be all black with the kimono as only eyecatching piece. This time, I wanted to spice it up a little, so I swapped the usual black skirt with my neon one and instead of wearing a plain top underneath the kimono, I pinned the kimono together and wore it as a top itself. I really like the outcome, what do you think? I definitely have to find more ways to combine kimonos, they're so light and soft! I'm currently having a leather-pants-kimono combination running through my head, hmmm...

Campus Tour

Wednesday 23 October 2013

This is the part of the campus where I live. It's the furthest one away from the main campus, but it was built only two years ago and it's in the middle of nature, so it's really nice to be there.

These are just a couple of school buildings, I actually only have class in one of the school buildings shown on the pictures! (The Fulton building)
Walking towards the Library Sqaure where you'll find..
...the library, surprise! I really, really love the library here, it's huge and has different studying spaces, tons of computers and such good food and coffee in the library café!
And right next to the library is the other building I have class in (Arts A)
Falmer House is one of the buildings where you'll find a small social space, the office of the University magazine and one of the two main bars on campus.

So here are the promised photos of my Uni campus. I didn't take pictures of every single building, but these are the main ones (at least for me). The sun was already slowly starting to go down, so the lighting wasn't ideal, but look at that weather! You can finally see the colourful trees around here as well, which makes the campus look even prettier :)

Small update

Monday 21 October 2013

pants: guess sweater: h&m shoes: sacha

I've literally been wanting to update the entire day but either had no inspiration of pictures, so I thought I'd have to wait until I have new pictures tomorrow. Luckily, I just found a couple of mirror pictures I took of an outfit that I wore last week and even though I only like the outcome of one of the pictures, I still took the opportunity to post. I basically wanted to say thank you for all the feedback on the last post; I'll definitely take my camera with me tomorrow or on Wednesday when I'm on campus, so I'll snap some pictures for you guys! I'm still not too sure about the Facebook page, as I don't know if many people would actually 'like' it, and so on.
That's it for now, I'm going to bed soon! I'll probably make a music post soon though, since I just recently added a lot of music to my iTunes, so if you have any music suggestions, do let me know in a comment! xo

Double Leather

Sunday 20 October 2013

pants: h&m shirt: zara leather jacket: topshop shoes: primark

This probably isn't the most original way to pair leather with leather, but I really felt like taking the plunge and combining my leather pants with my leather jacket. I kept the rest of the outfit quite simple and even though you can't properly see it on the picture, I think the fur collar on my jacket gives it a nice extra touch. My leather pants are slowly becoming one of my favourite and most worn pieces, as they manage to change an outfit in a simple but effective way. I think I'll go on an outfit hunt around some blogs to find more and more ways to wear these pants!

PS: I was wondering if any of you would be interested in pictures of my Uni/campus? I personally really like getting these kind of more private insights, but I'm not sure if I should make an entire post out of it or not..

PPS: I've been thinking about making a Facebook page for my blog but I can't decide whether it's a good idea or not - what do you think?

The Sartorialist

Saturday 19 October 2013

The Sartorialist photo thesartorialist_zpsaeb8923d.jpg
I've been following The Satorialist's blog on Bloglovin for a while now and somehow felt the urge to put together a post with pictures of him that I liked/inspired me lately. All pictures from this post can be found on his blog. I like his pictures so much because even though they often show people who are dressed amazingly, you won't necessarily find the typical streetstyle kind of shots. There's something so real, so raw in people that have been taken a picture of while they did something as natural as walking, laughing or talking. I really liked scrolling through the blog and I often had a hard to narrow it down to a few pictures only, otherwise this post would've been massive. What do you think of the pictures I picked? Do you like them? photo thesartorialist7_zps00b1f44a.jpgThe Sartorialist photo thesartorialist8_zps31245649.jpg photo thesartorialist5_zps92ca0908.jpgThe Sartorialist photo thesartorialist4_zpsaac4a471.jpgThe Sartorialist photo thesartorialist9_zpsbb81c333.jpgThe Sartorialist photo thesartorialist6_zpsf8516de3.jpgThe Sartorialist photo thesartorialist2_zpse5ebba0b.jpg
